Egyptian Gypsum Ultrafine Classification and Quality Enhancement

The customer is a building materials and mineral processing company based in Egypt, specializing in gypsum and its derivative products. As the construction industry increasingly demands high-quality specialty gypsum—such as high-strength gypsum, dental gypsum, and specialty additives—the customer needed to upgrade its traditional gypsum powder processing to achieve finer particle size and a narrower distribution.

Key Challenges

  1. Ultrafine Classification Target

The existing gypsum powder (feed size ≈ 600 mesh) needed further precision classification to obtain ultrafine products meeting the stringent requirement of D97: 5 μm.

  1. Capacity Requirement

The system had to achieve a stable output of 1,500 kg/h (1.5 t/h) while maintaining extremely high classification accuracy.

  1. Product Differentiation

The customer required simultaneous production of:

  • Ultrafine powder D97: 5 μm, and
  • Recoverable coarse powder D50 ≈ 14–15 μm,

enabling dual-output functionality and maximizing material utilization.

Solution: Bột Epic ITC High-Precision Air Classifier

To overcome the challenges of ultrafine gypsum classification, the customer adopted Epic Powder’s flagship product—the ITC Series Air Classifier.

Technical Features

The ITC classifier is designed specifically for difficult-to-classify and easily agglomerated ultrafine powders. It uses precisely controlled airflow in combination with a high-speed turbine classifying wheel to achieve extremely accurate particle size cuts.
